Welcome to NameTapes Direct the UK's premier online supplier of Iron on, Sew in and clip in name tapes tags and labels.
New for 2015 are our Fray Resistant sew in labels.
Our new Fray Resist name tapes have been specifically created for use in applications where the labels are prone to rubbing, this is often in overalls and jackets worn every day. In these harsh environments conventional woven labels will fray far quicker than our Fray Resist Name Tapes. These sew in labels are made from a coated polyester material which several users have described as "Plastic Paper", they resist fraying because the coating holds the fibres in place even when they become worn, this makes the tag's incredibly hard to tear.
Application is simple and is the same as our Soft Satin variety, simply cut your label from the roll, fold so both end are together and sew into your clothing.
Available in a choice of colours
The labels are printed with your details in one of five colours.
These labels are available now just click here to order yours.
We will be introducing another version of this label in the coming weeks which will allow you to
Because of their durability these tags are slightly stiffer than our Soft Satin labels and are best suited to applications where they are not in direct contact with the users skin in case the tape rubs the skin and causes soreness.

We didn't see the point in sourcing a cheap non branded laundry marker when looking for a pen to go with our Write your own Iron on labels so we decided that we would offer a product which had a world class reputation so then our choice was clear Sharpie. The Sharpie Textile marker has an ink which is specially formulated to be absorbed by the material and to resist "bleeding" when in water unlike normal markers and biro's.
The Sharpie is available on it's own for use directly on clothing or as part of a kit with either our pre-cut Name Tapes or write your own shoe labels and of course when you've used all your labels further pre cut Name Tags and Write your own heel labels can be purchased separately.
Our write your own iron on labels are the same material as the labels that we print, so you can be assurred that these will out perform the ones found on ebay or at the pound shop that normally come off after just a few washes or you have to keep writing the name on them because the pen is not up to scratch! It might seem strange to some of you that NameTapes Direct wants to sell a DIY nametapes kit but a number of customers have asked for it explaining that they only want a couple of labels for each child now and then, so we took this "on board".
With less than a week till Nametapes direct opens for business we thought it was the right time to answer what is probably our most asked question, “what Nametapes should I buy?” In the beginning there was only one type of Nametape which was a Woven label introduced in the UK in the 1870's and was sewn into all items of clothing, but now days there are Iron-on, sew-in, plastic tags and even some name labels which are self adhesive and claim to stay on for many washes, so which work best?
Predominantly sewn in, however a few vendors offer them with an Iron On backing are still around some 140 years latter and clearly do the job, but the disadvantage is that they have to be woven and depending on the company you get them from vary considerably in quality and price, they need to be sewn on to the garment at both ends so essentially there are 2 lots of sewing per name tag and finally there is normally just enough room for the name and a small icon on the tape. But no one can argue that if the time is spent to sew them in carefully they will stay on the garment for years.
Often called School Name tapes these labels have had some bad press! Heavily marketed in the 1960's as a strip of Iron on material and a pen they worked with varying degrees of success some staying on the term and some dropping off on the first wash. Now days things have changed, Iron on labels available from Nametapes direct can be relied upon to stay on for the life of the garment, however the application instructions do need to be followed closely and Iron on labels will allow you to have more information on them than a Woven Tag and be quicker to apply than sewing. The modern equivalent to the Woven nametape the sew-in name tag has far more room for content than woven labels by virtue of the fact it is a loop-fold design not only giving you 2 surfaces on which information can be displayed but also meaning that there is only one row of sewing. Because these labels have so much room they are a firm favourite with allergy sufferers because they can have allergy or medical advice printed on the back with the sufferers name on the front. The plastic tags are becoming more popular, they are simply a way of attaching a name label to the school uniform or garment without ironing or sewing, they are fast to apply but can be easily removed which is either a good or a bad thing, Great if your handing the clothes down but not so good if a thief simply pulls them off. Well that's about it this time, do take a look around our store and if you have any questions contact us, we'd love to hear from you. See Here
